SANISHOWER BENEFITS

If you’re looking at basement bathroom ideas for a full bathroom setup, you may have come across the upflush toilet system. An upflush toilet system, such as this Saniflo product, allows you to install a basement bathroom shower without the need to damage your floors or walls just to hook up to the standard water pumps and drainage system.

For a traditional basement shower, you would need to drill the concrete to have a drain, while the SaniSHOWER system will only sit on a concrete basement floor. A basement toilet, sink, and shower can even be connected to a single macerator pump—that’s a full basement bathroom.

There’s no need for separate water pumps when you have this Saniflo bathroom product, which makes it easier to fulfill your basement bathroom ideas.

The basement bathroom macerator pump makes it easy for a basement toilet, shower, and sink to eliminate solid wastes. Macerator pumps shred and grind solid waste, which is then mixed into flushing water to create a slurry that can be pumped more easily upward through a narrow pipe.

The SaniSHOWER is a system used to install a bathroom shower and sink up to 12 feet below the sewer line, such as in a basement, or even up to 100 feet away from a soil stack. The SaniSHOWER basement bathroom shower system is designed to connect with the following:

  1. This SaniSHOWER gray water pump
  2. Any sink
  3. Any shower

The SaniSHOWER is a small gray water pump that may be used to pump wastewater away from a basement bathroom shower, sink, bar sink or other fixture. The SaniSHOWER is compact enough to fit underneath a raised shower base, giving you greater options when it comes to basement bathroom ideas.

Alternatively, it can be placed behind a wall or beside a basement bathroom shower. The SaniSHOWER will pump wastewater up to 12 feet in height and/or 100 feet away from a soil stack.

SaniSHOWER Installation

The Saniflo SaniSHOWER/Gray Water Pump fits behind a wall, underneath a shower base or in the kitchen cabinet. The discharge elbow easily rotates to match the requirements of a variety of sources, including the kitchen sink, shower, urinal, or washing machine and features a valve that prevents waste from flowing back into the unit.

HOW DO I CONNECT MY SANIFLO SHOWER?

It’s easy to install a Saniflo SaniSHOWER in your basement bathroom. It will only take a few hours for a pump to be connected. A comprehensive step-by-step guide is available below.

The Saniflo SaniSHOWER is easy to install; there are just four connections:

  1. Drains from desired bathroom fixtures are connected to the Saniflo SaniSHOWER pump (i.e., shower and/or sink).
  2. The pump is connected to a vent system.
  3. The pump is connected to the drain pipe.
  4. The pump is connected to the electrical supply.

And you’re done!

SANISHOWER FUNCTION

The pressure chamber on the Saniflo SaniSHOWER/Gray Water Pump automatically starts and stops the motor with a cycle between 2 and 10 seconds. As soon as the water enters the unit, the pressure switch activates the motor to start the pumping process. Once the water level drops, the switch deactivates the unit until there is a new rush of water.

The unit pumps the effluent upward to 12 feet and/or 100 feet horizontally (with gravity fall).  Once the water is discharged and the water level in the container goes down, the microswitch deactivates the unit until water enters the unit again. A normal operating cycle for the SaniSHOWER can be as short as 2 to 10 seconds depending upon the discharge pipe run configuration; power consumption is, therefore, minimal and only runs at 2 horsepower.

In addition to sink water, the Saniflo SaniSHOWER will also accept and discharge the wastewater from a variety of other sanitary bathroom fixtures in the bathroom, such as a shower, a urinal, a toilet, etc.

When adding a basement bathroom shower, a base will have to be constructed. This base should be made out of a 2" × 6" (minimum) or 2" × 8" (recommended) on edge to allow for the installation of a P-trap and the required 1/4" per foot gravity flow toward the pump unit.

The discharge elbow on the side of the basement bathroom SaniSHOWER can be rotated 360 degrees to fit any type of installation required. A non-return valve, which comes already assembled on the discharge elbow, prevents backflow into the unit.

This basement bathroom shower unit has been designed with a vent output on the side of the unit. All plumbing codes require connection to a vent system. Please note that the vent system should be a two-way air vent. It is also highly recommended for the gray water pumps to be connected to a ground fault interrupter (GFI) circuit.

The Saniflo SaniSHOWER is small enough to fit comfortably inside a kitchen cabinet or vanity or even under a raised shower base in your bathroom. This makes the SaniSHOWER and pumps ideal for a small basement bathroom.

The Saniflo SaniSHOWER/Gray Water Pump meets all plumbing code requirements and features a two-way air-vent connection system on its side. All Saniflo products and pumps are guaranteed safe for your toilet or bathroom.

The Saniflo SaniSHOWER has been certified to American and Canadian Standards. Electrical standard UL 788, CA: Electrical standard CSA C22.2.
